JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

To process and complete all air import shipments for customers ensuring the highest quality standards and providing service solutions meeting or exceeding our customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understand end-to-end processes involved in international shipping. Follow all company SOP's and guidelines.
  • Receive and track customer orders, send shipping instructions overseas according to customer instructions or established SOP's. Utilize JWS system.
  • Excellent international written and verbal communication skills.
  • Open Import Files in a timely manner according to KPI requirements.
  • Answer all customer requests in accordance with our company standards and guidelines.
  • Communicate with and ensure release of the freight from air carriers.
  • Notify customer / broker of arrival and charges.
  • Handle and manage all customer contact at file level regarding exceptions.
  • Ensure highest level of data quality by processing the shipment accurately.
  • Provide accurate job costing forecast - Ensure all payables, receivables and accruals are set and properly managed per company rules and guidelines.
  • Work with vendors and overseas offices to dispute any incorrect payables.
  • Bill/Invoice each file to the respective customers.
  • Ensure payment is received for all COD accounts prior to freight release.
  • Oversee freight logistics: pre-alerts, dispatch, track, trace, obtain POD's, invoice, update spreadsheets, create break bulk files.
  • Confirm POD for each shipment.
  • Update Track and Trace proprietary applications.
  • Assist Sales, Department Manager and Colleagues in compiling quotes by providing rates, tariffs, etc.
  • Assure that file contains all necessary documents as set by company standards.
  • Work with Sales on account implementation, ensuring a smooth transition from Sales to Operations.
  • Other duties as requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, desired but not required.
  • Microsoft Office - Excel, Word.
  • MINIMUM 3-5 years experience in imports or combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Able to comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
  • Able to comprehend moderate instructions and short correspondence.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret moderate to complex business correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Able to add and subtract two digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Able to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

•100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. This position requires employee to frequently work in a fluid, fast paced environment.
