Job Summary

The Tool Room Technician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting various types of molds, tools and equipment used in our manufacturing process. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in tool and die making, injection molding processes, and CNC machining programming.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to build, maintain, and repair tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures
  
• Conduct preventive maintenance on tooling and equipment to ensure optimal performance
  
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tools and equipment, and make necessary repairs or modifications
  
• Operate manual and CNC machines, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines, to repair or modify tooling
  
• Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to develop tooling designs and resolve technical issues
  
• Set up and program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software
  
• Perform quality checks on finished tooling to ensure compliance with specifications
  
• Maintain inventory of tooling components, materials, and supplies
  
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area
  
• Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled
  
• Dismantle molds, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed
  
• Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to set-up and production
  
• Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics
  
• Mold database administration
  
• Manage projects of new/modified tools
  
• Prepare budgets and follow up activities until completion
  
• Daily/quarterly reports
  
• Other duties as assigned
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate in tool and die making preferred
  
• At least 5 years of experience in a tool room or mold shop environment
  
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  
• Knowledge of injection molding processes and related tooling
  
• Experience with CNC machining programming and operating manual and CNC machines
  
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  
• Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
