Job Summary:

The Student Financial Operations Specialist under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Financial Operations, is primarily responsible for analyzing refunds and credits to student accounts in compliance with federal, state and university policies. Responsible for resolving scholarship posting issues and analyze eligibility for refunding. Responsible for voiding/stop pay of refunds when deemed appropriate. Assist in the retrieval of wire payments and bank portals, while assisting with wire and payment deposits to ensure accuracy as a front-line receiver of deposits. Assist with resolving refunding issues, reviewing wire transactions, analyzing debit/credit transfers and resolve any JE issues, maintenance and delivery of student account refunds. The Specialist will analyze student accounts, research account discrepancies, reconcile items when needed, and provide excellent customer service customer service liaison.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist refunding of student accounts: review and analyze student accounts for refunding in accordance with federal and university policy and compliance, and review and process student accounts for debit/credit transfers.
  • Assist with general account maintenance: perform operational functions necessary for student financial operations as it relates to refunding, including processing void/stop payment requests, posting of wire transfers, assisting with accounts receivables, and processing credit card chargebacks/disputes.
  • Resolve student account inquires from students, parents, faculty and staff. Serve as primary point of contact for issues involving refunding, deposits, wire transfers, and withdrawals.
  • Support student financial operations: actively participate in various team initiatives, including staff development activities, supporting admission orientation programs, participate in Financial Literacy presentations and events, and processing daily deposits.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferably degree in accounting, business administration or finance is preffered.

Three (3) years of work experience is required. Candidate with Higher Education work experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate with work experience in a financial field is preferred. Also, candidate with knowledge of compliance with federal regulations is a plus.

Candidate must demostrate knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and computer experience. Candidate must also demonstrate ability to learn new software(s) and analyze student account9s) to track payments and evaluate student accounts.

Canidate must also possess strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Candidate with strong problem solving, time management, organizational and plannings skills is required. Attention to detail is a must.
