Function as a key member of the Enterprise Quality System team providing leadership across the DFA Enterprise in the development, implementation, and sustainability of the DFA Quality Management System and the supporting processes enhancing food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Partner and align with the business unit stakeholders in the design and implementation of the DFA Quality Management System to ensure both departmental and business objectives are met. Provide proactive oversight and management of the DFA Quality Management System to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and internal/external customer requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Enterprise Quality Management System team. Develop and manage processes and standards for food safety, quality and regulatory (FSQR) programs to support standardized process adherence across the enterprise. Align with the FSQR leadership team strategic master plan
  • Lead the design and implementation of QMS enablement tools. Identify QMS enablement tools that provide seamless and efficient execution of FSQR processes aligned with the Enterprise FSQR strategy. Partner with business unit stakeholders in the design and implementation of these tools and develop/provide training for the end-users
  • Partner with cross functional key stakeholders to deliver Quality Systems process optimization and improvement. Identify quality and food safety risks, gaps, and opportunities within the Enterprise including tracking and trending compliance against policies, standards, and procedures. Partner with the Enterprise FSQR and business unit leaders to define FSQR KPIs and scorecards; maintain consistent KPI reporting leveraging PowerBI and other ERP tools
  • Lead the QMS business integration and ensure FSQR is embedded into the business culture across SAP, LIMS, learning, and PLM platforms. Facilitate the incorporation of FSQR by design into Product Lifecycle Management
  • Partner with HR to deliver a comprehensive FSQR learning framework utilizing Alchemy and Dairy U. Liaise with FSQR and business partners in the development of training modules for FSQR for all levels within the organization. Provide support for plant quality teams and cross functional partners to identify FSQR training needs to support and drive continuous improvement across the Enterprise. Create and revise training modules based on emerging needs
  • Coordinate visibility to customer issues, providing consistency in reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement. Facilitate coordinated key account responses and allow technical services/manufacturing quality to provide quick, effective responses driving continuous improvements and a reduction in complaints
  • Partner with Corporate Risk Management ensuring FSQ recall and incident/crisis management procedures align with DFA business continuity, risk management, and crisis management strategies. Ensure FSQR are embedded into these holistic business practices

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience
  • BS degree in biological sciences, chemistry, food science or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience in FSQ within the food and beverage industry, preferable within the dairy category
  • Previous experience as a plant quality manager
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills
  • Certification and/or license - PCQI certification; American Society of Quality - Certified Quality Auditor or ISO lead auditor certification, or similar

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of QMS and associated enablement tools
  • Familiarity with GFSI (SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, IFS) schemes
  • Strong risk assessment skills
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 117
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically LIMS, Excel and ERP
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management
  • Accuracy and thoroughness in completion of duties is crucial to success
  • Able to organize and prioritize resources to achieve goals
  • Able to multi-task; able to keep organized records; able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to perform analysis, mathematical calculations, and statistical evaluations
