The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for an open rank Sleep Medicine faculty position. The successful applicant will join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary healthcare team dedicated to advancing treatment for sleep disorders including, but not limited to, obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, chronic insomnia, hypersomnolence, narcolepsy, various parasomnias, etc. Candidates should be interested in training medical students, residents and fellows. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent degree, successfully completed an accredited residency training program, and be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology at the time of hire. Fellowship training in Sleep Medicine is required. The ability to provide assessment and treatment of sleep disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings using medication and other modalities such as CPAP, BiPAP, oral appliances, position education, and/or referral for maxillofacial and upper airway surgery is required. Other requirements include the ability to recognize medical, neurologic, and/or psychiatric disorders displaying symptoms likely related to sleep disorders; experience in use of clinical physiological techniques in their assessment is required. Experience in an aspect of clinical research is preferred.

Documented excellence in domains of clinical, research, or education activities are required and varies with level of advancement. To be considered for a tenure-track position, candidates also must demonstrate peer-reviewed scholarship.
