We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist who has an extensive scientific expertise in microbiology with an emphasis on developing novel vaccine candidates and antimicrobial products for bacterial pathogens . The successful candidate will have specialized experience in designing and conducting laboratory experiments to study vaccine and mAb pharmacodynamics, and will develop and qualify methods, as well as generate, interpret and report scientific data. Candidate should be proficient in troubleshooting and hold PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, Vaccinology or related field, with proven post-doctoral record experience.

As a Senior Scientist in our Early Vaccines and Immune Therapies group you will be a key member of a team focused on supporting projects in clinical development. You will bring your theoretical and practical expertise in microbiology to establish assay systems and deliver datasets that will have direct impact on patients.

What Does This Role Involve?

  • Execute biochemical and cell-based assays to characterize candidate vaccines and mAbs targeting bacterial pathogens
  • Apply molecular biology skills to generate recombinant proteins and bugs
  • Develop and qualify bioanalytical assays to characterize candidate drugs
  • Assist in the preparation and review of bioanalytical data and reports suitable for regulatory submission
  • Communicate across the team and with senior management

Essential Skills and Capabilities
  • PhD in microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, or equivalent with some postdoctoral training
  • Background in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, DNA and RNA isolation and purification, sequencing , RT-PCR, and qPCR.
  • Extensive experience in studying bacterial pathogens and pathogenesis
  • Experience in bacterial and mammalian cell culture, cytotoxicity and opsonophagocytic killing assays.
  • Ability to evaluate data quality, troubleshoot, and interpret experimental results
  • Meticulous tracking and documenting of results in laboratory notebooks, databases, and scientific reports
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize numerous different projects
  • Job complexity: Must be able to understand, conduct and interpret results of technically challenging experiments with supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills together with evidence of having used these to support problem solving and delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while planning and meeting timelines
  • Proven track record of success in your research and experience preparing written scientific reports (e.g. manuscripts) and oral presentations (e.g. slides, posters)
