POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Operational Excellence is a key contributor on the Site Leadership Team (SLT), developing and executing the site strategy to support Zoetis business objectives. This role provides direct leadership, strategic direction and tactical oversight for the site Operational Excellence and Training and Development Programs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Initiatives:

  • Responsible for leading, managing, and directing Operational Excellence projects and initiatives, and Training and Development functions which provide support for current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) operations.
  • Provides direct leadership for site Operational Excellence and Training colleagues, achieving objectives for colleague engagement, EHS, quality, supply, and cost.
  • Builds strong partnerships with Value Stream operations and enabling functions including supply chain, quality, technical services and logistics.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Supports site continuous improvement activities as a Lean/Six Sigma process change agent. Coach and mentor other change agents.
  • Leads site improvement and Kaizen activities supporting all aspects of manufacturing and enabling business functions.
  • Leads site efforts focused on use of DMAIC and statistical methods to execute continuous improvement projects and improve process robustness.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities, solves problems, and implements solutions to improve operational and quality performance.
  • Supports culture of continuous improvement in all levels of the site, advocating appropriate Mindsets and Behaviors to build a high performing culture. Serves as a Gemba Sensei and promotes the use of Lean Six Sigma methodology and techniques.
  • Trains colleagues in Six Sigma, continuous improvement and LEAN tools, as well as supporting Kaizen Event Leaders.

Other areas of responsibility:
  • Integrates shop floor problem-solving through Method 1 techniques, Human Error Reduction Concepts and integration into deviation investigations.
  • Performs packaging line/manufacturing area capacity analysis and updates site financial routings for item addition and budget processes.
  • Identifies and maintains cost improvement list/portfolio for budget targets, coaches and drives project execution to deliver cost improvements.
  • Advocates use of visual dashboards and controls to drive and recognize shop floor performance.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo by encouraging alternate ways of thinking and taking calculated risks.
  • Sets vision and direction for training team to improve learning effectiveness and maintain compliance.
  • Oversees New Employee Orientation onboarding process.
  • Develop training culture across the site to improve colleague retention and reduce quality/safety incidents.
  • Develops new training strategies and methods to enhance learning effectiveness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of experience in a technical discipline or related field, or a Master's Degree with 5+ years of experience
  • Black Belt certification is very highly preferred
  • Strong experience in cGMP environments is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership of high capability professionals and OTE colleagues
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Microsoft Applications, Minitab statistical software
  • Accomplished presentation skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office environment, with frequent time in the manufacturing area including occasional support during off shift hours when needed. Use of hearing and eye protection is required.
