This position will develop best in class EHS programs, systems and processes assisting facility leadership in complying with federal, state and local EHS regulations. Will lead the onsite emergency response team, designs, and conduct drills and coordinates efforts between Materion and local emergency response organizations. Acts as the subject matter expert for fire protection, combustible liquids, hot work and confined space entry and rescue.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide leadership for the Elmore Emergency Response Team (ERT). Coordinate off site training as necessary or required to maintain member preparedness and certifications. Develops, deliver, and facilitate ongoing trainings and drills for all ERT members. Maintains records for auditing purposes. Functions as Incident Commander for the ERT team when on plant site.
  • Act as Elmore Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the topics of Emergency Response, Fire/Life Safety, Flammable Liquids, Fire Prevention, Hot Work, Fall Protection and Confined Space entry and rescue.
  • Represents the Materion Elmore facility in the local community and act as a liaison with outside emergency response personnel.
  • Responsible for ensuring all emergency response equipment is maintained.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ohio State Certified Emergency Medical Responder or higher (preferred) or be willing to complete instruction within 6 months of hire.
  • Must possess or can obtain all required training (VFF, HAZWOPER ER Tech, CS Rescue, IC) with in the first 12 months of assignment.
  • Required: BS in an EHS field and 10+ years of experience or a Master's degree and 8+ years of experience.
  • Preferred: A Master's degree in any relevant EHS field and 10+ years of experience.
  • Board certification in industrial hygiene, safety and/or environment.
  • Proficient using Microsoft applications
  • Able to work independently
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Required: Experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with OSHA, EPA, NFPA and other relevant building codes.
  • Preferred: Previous Emergency response experience

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
