About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Credit & Counterparty Risk, the Sr Credit Analyst is responsible for credit adjudication and receivable/exposure management for the U.S. Refined Products segment managed from Columbus, OH. The successful candidate will lead this segment's credit risk by proactively monitoring exposure, participating in deal structuring and mitigation strategies, negotiating collateral and credit language within contracts, and participating in the receivable collection, dispute management and cash application process. The Sr Credit Analyst is also responsible for mentoring and guiding other analysts based on experience and must have strong communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with the internal functions and external counterparties.

This is a full-time position located at our Dublin, Ohio office.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify key risks performing analysis of financial statements and related information to approve and recommend credit ratings and limits within the U.S. Refined Product segment
  • Identify, recommend, and negotiate financial assurances from counterparties to mitigate credit risks
  • Monitor compliance to approved credit limits by identifying and reporting credit policy deviations including over-limit situations and take required actions to address over-limit situations through daily breach reporting
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to Accounting, Marketing, Logistics, Legal and with External Counterparties
  • Assist in negotiations of the credit-related aspects within Refined Product and associated Collateral Agreements
  • Work with other internal support groups to complete items such as Know Your Counterparty screening & onboarding, systems and master data setup, cash application, collections, dispute management, reporting of credit exposures and accounts receivable ageing
  • Oversee, train and provide guidance to other team members based on experience levels
  • Proactively monitor credit exposure and ensure key risks are captured and mitigated in accordance with Cenovus's risk tolerance and appetite
  • Monitor accounts receivables balances and participate in the collection process to ensure accounts are current and working capital is optimized
Qualifications :
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Bachelor of Business with Finance major or equivalent would be an asset
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant credit experience, preferably in the energy industry and/or banking
  • Ability to develop strong internal and external business relationships
  • Demonstrates financial acumen, with ability to adjudicate credit risk and understand market dynamics and impacts on the U.S. Refined Product Segment.
  • Communicates clearly in a respectful and timely manner
  • Adaptable to changes or setbacks
  • Ability to make independent risk-based decisions
