Loyola Medicine, treating the whole person with compassion-to \"also treat the human spirit.\" The Security and Safety Department seeks a Security Sergeant, assist with planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of all department personnel to promote a safe and secure environment for MacNeal Hospital.

In this role, the Security Sergeant will assist the Security Manager with planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of all department personnel to promote a safe and secure environment for Gottlieb Memorial Hospital. Develops and implements programs that identify, evaluate and control security issues. Assist with the direct monitoring of security services including personnel, equipment, technology, training and education, crime and loss prevention programs pursuant to government mandates and regulatory standards setting agencies, the Illinois Criminal Code plus conformance with The Joint Commission, IDPH and other regulatory agencies. The Security Sergeant provides security services to Gottlieb Memorial Hospital by collecting and analyzing security data to determine risk and crime patterns and recommending equipment and procedures to decrease security risks. Plans for and supervises the installation of new security equipment and systems; maintains and services current equipment and systems. Determines need for, develops and conducts training to promote security awareness and decrease risk. Follow-up on security incidents as needed and assists security Manager and officers to ensure provision of quality services. Supports delivery of security and safety services on Gottlieb Memorial Hospital campus by supervising the day to day operations of Security Officers in the field.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Promotes the security goals of crime and loss prevention through interactions with other departments, and the supervision and activities of staff.
  • Promotes the MAGIS goals of customer service (care, concern, respect, cooperation) through interactions with other departments and supervision of staff.
  • Handles the day to day Human Resource responsibilities of the department. Assist Security Manager with departmental training by providing and participating in training of officers and other MCNL employees.
  • Assist Security Manager with developing staffing schedules.
  • Participates in external government and regulatory agency compliance inspections and ensures that regulatory and accreditation standards for MCHL and Security are met.
  • Develops and maintain working relationships with outside Security agencies, law enforcement agencies and emergency response agencies to improve efficiency.
  • Researches, reviews, develops and updates departmental policies and procedures.
  • Conduct security risk assessments to evaluate and make recommendations to decrease risks. Collect and analyzes data and compiles department reports, statistics and graphs.

Position Requirements

Minimum Required:
  • Associates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
  • 6-10 years of previous job-related experience

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
  • Specify Degree(s): Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement and/or Security Management
  • 10+ years of previous job-related experience
  • Details: Preferred supervisory experience in Security and/or Law Enforcement.

Licensure/Certifications

Required:
  • Valid Illinois State Driver's License
Preferred:
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
