Position Description: RN Float Pool, Full-Time Mixed Shifts 6-6
The Float Pool RN is a member of an elite group of direct patient care nurses who provide a flexible staffing resource to nursing units during times of high census or acuity or whenever replacement RNs are needed as a result of PTO, sick calls, staff turnover, coverage for educational trainings, etc. Float Nurses are pre-scheduled to work specific shifts, but must be willing to receive unit and patient assignments on short notice and change assignments at any time as the need arises.
Float Nurses are a key contributor to the hospitals success through participation in the shared governance model of nursing and serving on committees and project teams as requested.
Float Nurses are initially trained in Medical/Surgical/Orthopedic and Critical Care Unit (CCU) competencies and will primarily float between these two areas. Once solid competency and performance is established in these areas, Float Nurses are expected to expand their competency set to be able to float to Pediatrics, low acuity NICU, Mother/Baby, and other departments as needed, through and ongoing training program determined by the Float pool Director/Manager. Float Nurses will be scheduled to work primarily twelve hour day or night shifts and are required to work their fair share of weekend shifts, usually not more than every other weekend, unless they desire a weekend only schedule. Float Nurses will not be expected to receive any more low census call-off days than RNs in specific departments and will enjoy all the same benefits.
We are a family 270,000 strong! Our Talent Acquisition team is reviewing applications immediately. Highly qualified candidates will be promptly contacted by our hiring managers for interviews. Submit your resume today to join our community of caring!
