Summary:
The Research Technologist supports clinical and scientific research throughout the organization in a Shared Resource setting. As a member of the flow and image cytometry shared resource, the research technologist assists with or conducts experiments and procedures under the direction of a supervisor. These procedures commonly involve blood or bone marrow sample preparation (immunophenotyping) and flow cytometry data acquisition and analysis and the technologist presents findings including preliminary interpretation for further review; keeps detailed and accurate records relevant to the experiments conducted; inputs clinical and research information into the designated database system; conducts routine maintenance of equipment and machinery as needed. In addition, the research technologist will participate in a rotating assignment of assisting users (research staff from other departments) with training for the use of the flow cytometry analyzers in the facility and helps troubleshoot issues that may arise during their use of the equipment.

Starting salary for this position is $45,281 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. Master's degree in a clinical or scientific discipline; or
2. Bachelor's degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a research lab setting, experience with antibody staining techniques and flow cytometry analysis; experience with analytical software and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
