About the Education Policy & Leadership Department:

The Department of Education Policy and Leadership cultivates and supports leaders and researchers who seek to improve educational outcomes and the cultures of learning in schools, colleges and educational systems through leadership development, scholarship and service. In service to this mission, the department offers Ed.D. and M.Ed. programs with a focus on either higher education or pre-K to grade 12 leadership. About the Position:

The Program Specialist in the Education Policy and Leadership department provides administrative support for the development, implementation, and execution of programs, special projects, and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the department and support of faculty. This position is responsible for strategically developing, executing, and analyzing recruiting and marketing initiatives to increase prospect engagement and application submissions. The Program Specialist organizes and attends recruiting engagements and orientations for EPL programs which may include out of town/state travel. This vital role provides direct support of the Ed.D. programs and departmental events.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with the Directors and under the supervision of the Senior Program Specialist in developing an annual marketing and recruiting plan for all events, including social, digital and print media for the M.Ed. and Ed.D. programs. This process involves regular social media content on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Works with internal partners regarding creative/graphic and web development, quarterly newsletters, identifying in-person and digital marketing opportunities. Ensures all outbound content meets University style and standards.
  • Coordinates information sessions and alumni outreach opportunities. Assists in design and maintenance of departmental website. Develop quarterly engagement data reports and monitoring of campaign's performance.
  • Manages the Ed.D. weekends, including budgeting and arrangement of food services from University approved contractors and other private sources, direct support set up of meals, guest speakers, and other miscellaneous activities for Ed.D. weekends. This position will require 13 to 15 work weekends during the calendar in direct support of events and the Ed.D. program.
  • Coordinate and manage departmental events. Fields and directs departmental phone calls & visitors.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree is required. Two years of work experience is required.

Prefer experience in marketing and recruiting, customer relations, project planning, and/or event planning.

Experience working in a college or university is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must have outstanding oral and written communication skills.

Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Must have excellent customer service orientation.

Must have outstanding organizational, and time management skills. Must possess the ability to manage concurrent projects.

Candidate must be a proactive problem solver with the ability to be resourceful, proactive, and seek input or assistance as needed.

Candidate must handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality and professionalism.

A strong attention to detail and accuracy is needed. Must be able to appropriately manage financial responsibility.

Candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.

This position requires 13-15 work weekends during the calendar year in direct support of events and the Ed.D. program.
