The Role:

Moderna's Bioanalytics team is looking for Principal Research Associate with strong hands-on experiences in bioanalytical RT-qPCR/qPCR . The individual should have recent experiences in processing and analysis of wide range of molecules such as proteins, peptides, lipids, glycans, mRNA etc. The role will be supporting method development for non-clinical studies of development candidates applying cutting-edge RT-qPCR/qPCR/ddPCR techniques towards mechanistic and quantitative assessment of Moderna's mRNA therapeutics. Here's What You'll Do:

  • Method development, method optimization, fit-for-purpose qualification to support all Therapeutic Programs
  • Develop, optimize, qualify, and run bioanalytical RT-qPCR/qPCR/ddPCR methods for quantitation of various mRNA in drug products.
  • Coordinate with external CROs on method development and qualification
  • Perform method transfer to internal and external stakeholders for qualification / validation
  • Review and author relevant protocols, and reports
  • Support nonclinical in-vivo studies to evaluate PK/TK, safety, and efficacy of Moderna's drug candidates
  • Work closely with colleagues in clinical development organization as well as other cross-functional groups
  • Mentor/coach junior staff on qPCR/RT-qPCR/ddPCR based methodologies.
  • Provide RT-qPCR support to scientists in Nonclinical, Platform, and other groups

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • MS 2-5 / BS 5-8 years of relevant industry experience
  • (Preferred) At least 3 years of demonstrated hands-on experience in method development and qualification using qPCR/RT-qPCR/ddPCR in industrial setting.
  • (Preferred) Expertise in using QS-5, QS-7, Maxwell, Tape station and other relevant instruments
  • (preferred) Prior experience with method qualification or fit- for-purpose qualification to support method transfer for validation
  • Hands on experience in cell culture, electrophoresis, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction using variety of biological samples
  • Solid understanding of drug development process and general overview of mRNA technology
  • Intermediate statistical knowledge to effectively support bioanalytical method qualification and validation
  • Understanding of FDA/EMA guidelines on assay development, qualification, and validation
  • Good project management, organization, and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and challenge boundaries; adaptability to change
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an eagerness to work with and support colleagues in other departments
  • Experience in working with CROs and oversee method development/qualification as needed
