Job Overview

This 2-year Postdoctoral scholar will be based in the Education Policy Division of the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. The start date for the position is planned for July 1, 2022. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Professor Michael Gottfried on projects relating to large-scale data analysis using causal inference to estimate effects as well as teaching 1 course (with the option for additional salary of teaching up to 3 additional classes either during the school year or summer). The postdoc would have access to a wide range of enrichment activities at Penn GSE, including networking and seminars as well as mentoring graduate students. Note that this position includes additional funding (beyond salary) for conference travel and meeting scholars across the country.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Michael Gottfried. This includes, but is not limited to, collaborating with Professor Gottfried and other members of research and project teams in conducting data analysis, mentoring and working with graduate students, and working with faculty across institutions. There are opportunities to participate in many research phases including data collection, data analysis, manuscript writing, and research presentations.


Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in economics of education, education policy, economics, policy, or a related field before the start date. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Also highly valued are personal initiative, strong writing skills, and effective collaboration experience. Preferred experience includes experience working with large data and quasi-experimental designs to estimate effects.
