We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Surety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our talented team at Ft. Belvoir.

Position Description:

This position serves as the Contractor lead for analytical, administrative, programmatic, planning, and acquisition support to the overall nuclear weapons security / surety program, with additional responsibility for administrative and oversight support to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Steering Group for Nuclear Weapons Response chairperson.

In this role you will....

  • Provide analytical support as related to U.S. nuclear weapon security requirements across the spectrum to include recapture and recovery requirements
  • Assist in the oversight and management of U.S. nuclear weapon security related training programs
  • Assist in the development and periodic updates to DoD nuclear weapon security programs
  • Provide interface and congruity between Presidential Directives related to U.S. nuclear weapon physical security, recapture and recovery, incident response, and deterrence
  • Advise senior leaders on adherence to DoD Nuclear Weapons System Surety Standards (safety, security, use control) methods, and procedures
  • Participate in and support to U.S nuclear weapon security-related meeting, groups, and committees
  • Provide administrative support to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Steering Group for Nuclear Response (EOD SG) Chairperson
  • Provide administrative support for explosive ordnance disposal related studies, evaluations and inspections as may be requested by the Chairperson
  • Update and revise explosive ordnance disposal specified and implied tasks in U.S. Government nuclear weapon recapture and recovery directives, plans, and other authoritative documents as requested by the Chairperson
  • Provide support preparing and conducting symposia, workshops, and conferences via meetings and video teleconferencing (secure and non-secure methods)
  • Participate as a team member on myriad tasks, programs, meetings, etc., in the development, support, and analysis of U.S. nuclear weapon security regulatory guidance
Experience Requirements:
  • Previous duties and responsibilities in U.S. nuclear weapon security and emergency response (overseas and/or domestic) is required; higher headquarters level experience is highly desired
  • Subject matter expert on the U.S. Nuclear Weapon Security Standard, Recapture and Recovery mission set, and the Nuclear Weapon Incident Response program
  • Thorough understanding of National, DoD and Service component nuclear weapons guidance and the interrelationship with other governing directives
  • Extensive experience in planning, coordinating and executing senior leader level oversight and governing bodies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop presentations and brief senior leaders
  • Broad understanding of nuclear surety (safety, security, use control), preferably with familiarity of DTRA J10NS programs
  • General understanding of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal mission set as it relates to emergency response to U.S. nuclear weapons.
  • Prior experience in coordinating explosive ordnance actions in emergency response to U.S. nuclear weapons is preferred, not required
Education Requirements:
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience & 5+ years of experience with DOD Programs
  • Advanced degree is preferred

  • NA
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Top Secret
Other Requirements:
  • Prior experience with DTRA programs and specifically J10 is preferred
