Job Description

GPIis seeking a Professional Engineer to lead our Mechanical Engineering Team in our Metro NY office in Suffern, NY. The Mechanical Engineering Department Manager will have the responsibility for all engineering staff and project designs, including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection, primarily in New York.

What you bring to the table:

  • Providing support and mentorship to the professionals within the department to ensure the highest quality of work in the most efficient manner
  • Establishing best practices to standardize and improve quality and efficiency within the department
  • Offering regular performance feedback and annual merit reviews to the design team
  • Performing on-site observations, studies, and writing technical reports
  • Assisting Project Managers with proposals by providing the scope of work, project strategy, and any constraints
  • Preparing RFPs to fulfill project design and permitting requirements
  • Attend and participate in Local, Regional, and National Organizations that are involved in the development of the profession
  • Assisting in the growth and development of the organization and business by participating in marketing, proposal development, and managing projects
What you'll be doing:
  • BS in mechanical engineering or related field from an EAC/ABET accredited school
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering and project management, primarily in the MEP industry
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC system design, Plumbing systems, NFPA-13 Sprinkler System Design for Facilities
  • PE in NY
  • Familiarity with NYS and International Building Codes and relevant NFPA sections
  • Proficiency with planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating detailed phases of engineering projects
  • Ability to interact with clients interaction, with a successful track record of client relationships, client development, and experience with business development

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
