OVERVIEW

The S&B Family of Companies is currently searching for an experienced Marine/Mechanical Engineer for our affiliate TAI Engineers, in New Orleans, LA. The ideal person independently performs Marine Engineering activities for all phases of mechanical development and equipment design for a project of significant size and complexity. Must be fully competent in performing all conventional aspects of Marine/Mechanical Engineering and application of independent judgment for the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering criteria, methods and procedures. TAI Engineers, LLC. (TAI) was incorporated in 1993 and is owned by S&B Infrastructure, Ltd. It is known for its management expertise, technical excellence and innovative Maritime Solutions. Experience: 5+ years

Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from an accredited college or university*.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in design development, arrangements, piping system design, machinery selection, machinery design, production design and design integration for marine vessels such as oceangoing vessels, patrol vessels, offshore support vessels, research vessels, tugs, and barges. Alternately, design experience on complex mechanical system with similar or higher complexity to marine vessels is also acceptable.

Knowledge of mechanical systems in one or more of the following areas is preferred.

  • Mechanical component and system integrations and analysis
  • Mechanical powertrain system integration and analysis
  • Dynamic and static design analysis
  • Electro-Mechanical system design and integration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills are a must.
  • Ability to provide technical support to designers and draftsmen for development of technical packages.
  • Familiarity with ABS, CFR, USCG, SOLAS, IMO and other applicable regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Rhino 3D, Solidworks, Inventor, and Pipe-FLO software is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced environment is imperative.
  • Willing to travel occasionally.
