Hagerty is looking for a Managing Associate, Response Division, based in New York City (NYC) who will help Hagerty build and maintain its readiness to respond to disasters, while also supporting our client's response to disasters in NYC and elsewhere.
Candidates must either be local to NYC or be within commuting distance of NYC, with the ability to travel as needed.
In this role, the Managing Associate, Response Division will support or lead the following activities:
1. Readiness Support

  • Support ongoing recruiting efforts to build a roster of response professionals that can be called on to respond quickly to events in NYC and across the country, in coordination with Hagerty's Talent Acquisition (TA) team.
  • Work with Hagerty's Human Resources (HR) team to develop and implement a plan for onboarding new roster members, including briefings.
  • Work with HR to establish independent consultant (IC) contracts and/or procedures for establishing on-call contracts.
  • Support efforts to identify and incorporate Hagerty employees into the emergency response roster.
  • Develop and/or conduct briefings and training for cadre members.
  • Provide readiness updates to our response clients.
  • Coordinate schedules, track availability, answer questions and maintain connectivity with roster members to promote engagement.
  • Monitor potential and actual emergency events that could affect our clients, providing updates to key Hagerty staff and the response cadre, as needed.
  • Develop and refine response tools, templates, and protocols

2. Response Support
  • Serve as primary or secondary point of contact for response clients during emergency response missions.
  • Support response operations throughout the country by deploying periodically to help establish Hagerty response and/or serve in an operational role in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or field mission.
  • Provide on-site coordination with the clients, support onboarding of deployed staff, including coordination with EOC Management, Information Technology (IT), HR, etc.
  • Work with clients and project managers to staff emergency response missions, matching available staff with client needs.
  • Help plan logistics for deploying staff, including identifying lodging options.
  • Conduct briefings and just-in-time training to deployed staff.
  • Check-in with deployed Hagerty staff and supervisors. Help answer staff questions and concerns. Identify and resolve performance issues to ensure the Hagerty team is meeting client needs.
In this role, the Managing Associate, Response Division, must have the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • More than three (3) years of experience in emergency management, project management, or other relevant areas.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite.
  • Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and other emergency management concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Reside in New York City or within commuting distance of New York City
  • The ability and willingness to respond on short notice to support response operations.
The Managing Associate, Response Division, may also have the following preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in an EOC environment, either during activations or exercises.
  • A passion for emergency management
