Job Description

As the Manager - Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for leading the quality operating system. You will drive both quality improvement and customer satisfaction across TTX's organization. Together with your team you will develop and deploy quality strategies that ensure world class quality performance that provides a competitive advantage for TTX Company. You will lead efforts to build and sustain quality capability and capacity to deliver the short and long-term business strategies. Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization and work to define and prioritize metrics, needs, and investments while championing a data driven problem-solving approach. You will lead the quality efforts to collaboratively drive innovation and best practices. You will create and implement tools, standards and processes and drive alignment as well as consistency as applicable across all business lines internally and externally to TTX Company. You will lead a Quality Leadership Team that includes field personnel (working remotely across the continental US) and shop assigned quality personnel. You will be a key leader in creating rapid change and integrating a Quality culture throughout the TTX organization.

The Manager - Quality Assurance is responsible for two direct reports (Assistant Managers) that lead the east and west regions of our field maintenance and shop operations. Reporting to each Assistant Manager are 4 to 7 quality personnel. The Manager also has fiscal budgetary responsibility for the department.

Travel requirements up to 50%.

• Create and deploy quality systems and tools to facilitate performance driven quality results with continuous improvement in regards to equipment reliability and availability.

• Represent Senior Leadership with customers to review issues, provide feedback and provide permanent corrective action.

• Facilitate quality deep dives with the leadership team to create visibility and implement corrective actions on top business and quality issues.

• Provide strategic support to both Global and Domestic Commodity Managers and Supply Chain Management relative to Supplier Quality strategy as well as Quality interface, expertise and support to the operation's suppliers and partners.

• Develop and implement the key organizational quality metrics and perform periodic reviews to ensure corrective action results.

• Perform quality system reviews in accordance with defined procedures.

• Provide direct leadership and mentoring to Quality Professionals within the business in support of customer satisfaction.

• Partner with company leadership to assess, select and develop Quality functional talent throughout the organization, as well as mentor and assist in career development of these individuals.

• Operate in a professional manner with the highest personal integrity.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical based discipline (Quality preferred)

• 3+ years of experience in a senior Quality Management role with responsibility for multiple sites

• A proven track record of being able to effectively lead teams of diverse skill sets and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in engineered-to-order equipment manufacturing of rail components, new rail car build, and rail car maintenance

• Expertise in supply base quality management

• Highly-developed verbal and written communication skills to work effectively across functions with all levels of staff, both internal and external

• Ability to train and mentor others

• Knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

• Knowledge of design change and document change control, process verification and validation methodologies, manufacturing process control methodologies, and servicing in an engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.

• Experience with M-1003 quality systems as well as supplier sampling methodologies to verify quality performance.

• Previous M-1003, ASQ, and NACE certifications and training desired.

• 5+ Years of railroad-related experience in a leadership role with extensive knowledge and expertise on new car acquisitions, new component purchases, component reconditioning and freight car repair that comply with all FRA requirements, AAR specifications and guidelines in addition to any railroad industry requirements

Due to inspections and product testing at customer facilities, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit (remain stationary) and climb or balance. The employee is regularly required to move about (walk and stand). The employee must occasionally lift and/or transport up to 25 pounds. Correctable vision required for close, distance, or depth perception vision capabilities, and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
