ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages and coordinates activities of a team of applications scientists engaged in the application of HORIBA's Raman products
  • Prioritizes requests for laboratory analysis and support to determine the appropriate solution/method to complete the work
  • Provides technical guidance to customers and pre/post sales technical support to internal departments, to ensure product proposals meet customer requirements.
  • Supports the sales department for customer visitation as required and develops a strategy for non-standard application and product requests
  • Performs demonstrations and customer training at HORIBA facility or in the field
  • Gives scientific and sales presentations at events and meetings
  • Discovers and develops new applications for our instruments
  • Provides technical assistance and information to the sales & marketing departments for the creation of technical sales literature. Facilitates the development of application notes, white papers, and marketing support information.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCES REQUIRED:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in chemistry, biophysics, physics, materials sciences/engineering, or another related scientific field
  • Familiarity with Raman spectroscopic instruments and techniques
  • Working knowledge of industrial applications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong group leadership abilities
  • Incumbent typically has a minimum of five (5) years of industry experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Performs a variety of complex tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
