Description

The Materials Management and Logistics Specialist is the resident Quality & Assurance authority for cross reference of NSN material to vendor part numbers, ensuring we are using the customer assets before venturing into the open market. This person must be qualified to operate 4k-55k forklift trucks. The individual Interacts with departments for moving material and equipment from building to warehouse for shipping or stowage. The role requires the individual to work with the Machinery Repair Facility and other department personnel to establish a working parts list for parts/equipment to be ordered for various upcoming projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Logistic specialist planning warehouse resources and activities in keeping with operations objectives and targets.
  • Perform standard warehouse duties
  • Responsible for shipping and receiving of parts and supplies.
  • Maintain vehicle readiness.
  • Procurement support including part research within the NSN.
  • Monitor and coordinate HAZMAT procurement, storage, and proper disposal.
ADDITIONAL
  • Establish, monitor, improve, and report key business metrics with a focus towards customer satisfaction.
  • Improve warehouse organization / layout to reduce cycle time to receive, pull and ship or issue material.
  • Ensure that the workplace's health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the proper storage and security of the warehouse building and material.
  • Additional duties as directed by Logistics & Facilities Manager and/or Logistics Supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Three (3) years logistics and procurement experience in military or commercial operations
  • Experience in the management of international freight and logistics to include packaging, crating, shipping modes, shipping lanes, customs, insurance and inspections.
  • Ability to work with cross-cultural / cross-functional organizations and groups.
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain project priorities.
