Responsibilities

The Lead Technologist working under the Director of Sleep Services, will be responsible for maintaining night shift work schedules, troubleshooting technical and patient problems, as well as gather and analyze performance improvements initiatives. The lead technologist of the South Division of the Sleep Medicine Program will have versight of the Sleep Centers at Windy Hill, Douglas, and Paulding Hospitals and the future Cobb Hospital and Vinings Health Health Park and is responsible for productivity, discipline, and assuring that personnel are kept informed and are performing sleep services according to policies and procedures of the department. Consults with the Director of Sleep Services and physicians to provide high quality and consistency among the employees. Utilizes
good communications and human relation skills in day-to-day operations. The lead technologist will also perform daytime sleep studies and home sleep tests as needed.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:

  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology OR successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technologist.

Required Minimum Experience:
  • Five years of experience in the field of sleep disorders in an AASM accredited sleep facility. Management or supervisory experience preferred.

Required Minimum Certification:
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
  • Certification by a nationally recognized certification board
  • Hold either the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) that possesses the Sleep
    Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
