Overview

This position reports to the Investment Accounting Supervisor and includes responsibilities related to the Company's domestic and international based investment accounting and financial reporting activities. The role focuses on (1) continuous improvement of the investment accounting operations for the Company's domestic and international based entities; (2) monitoring and coordinating with third-party service providers to ensure high quality delivery of services; and (3) managing delivery of investment accounting data and information to support internal management and external reporting, including regulatory, statutory and US GAAP reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and managing all aspects of the general ledger, including posting of journal entries and reconciling investment balances and activity to the third-party investment accounting platform on various bases of accounting (e.g., Statutory Accounting Principles, U.S. GAAP, UK GAAP, Irish GAAP, etc.);
  • On-going review of investment accounting system output to ensure consistency with accounting practice and processes;
  • Adhering to clear objectives, formats and timelines for the efficient production of investment accounting reporting;
  • Maintaining internal control processes and best practices;
  • Liaising with the third-party investment accounting team to facilitate the resolution of inquiries;
  • Participating in the implementation of and on-going application of complex Statutory and US GAAP accounting guidance


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting;
  • 3+ years work experience in the financial services industry;
  • Practical experience with investment accounting software solutions (Clearwater preferred);
  • Practical experience with general ledger applications and tools (Oracle and HFM preferred);
  • Advanced excel skills (logical formulas and pivot tables)


Preferred:
  • Big 4 experience;
  • CPA or working towards certification;
  • Insurance industry experience
