The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for an Instructor/Lecturer faculty position in Veterinary Clinical Pathology to be located in the Chicagoland, IL, area. The satellite clinical pathology laboratory is part of the VDL of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. The VDL is accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD). The satellite laboratory is housed in and provides full-service testing for a large veterinary specialty practice that is located in Buffalo Grove, IL, at the time of ad posting. Upon completion of construction, the practice and lab will relocate to a new, state-of-the-art building in Bannockburn, IL (anticipated fall 2022). The satellite laboratory is staffed with experienced medical technologists and veterinary technicians.

Requirements: Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree, and American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board eligibility is required. Preferred qualifications include ACVP board certification, experience in diagnostic veterinary medicine, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and personnel and laboratory management experience. However, candidates of all experience levels that meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to apply. Position rank and salary will reflect experience and qualifications.

Duties: The successful candidate will provide diagnostic service within the laboratory, as well as provide management of technical staff and the laboratory as needed. They will maintain laboratory standards and working conditions that comply with AAVLD and University of Illinois requirements. They will provide cytologic expertise with rapid turnaround time, train laboratory staff, and consult with veterinarians, house officers, and staff of the associated veterinary practice as needed.
