Examples of Work
• Use "As-Built" plans to develop roadway history for sections of highway, develop planning pavement strategies through sections, write up pavement determinations for the projects, and continue to review and update the pavement strategy as projects move through the design process.
• Conduct field visits, as necessary, to get a better understanding of existing road conditions.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with District Engineers.
• Communicate effectively with key stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the project.
• Keep organized project documents, correspondences, and updates on OnBase.
• Manage tasks as determined by our Program Management system to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
• Utilize computer software in the performance of job duties including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat DC, PathWeb, MicroStation, Clarity, Pavement Management System, OnBase, ProjectWise, ME Design, and our mainframe application.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Five years of experience OR four years of post-high school coursework/training and one year of experience, in preparing design plans, sampling and testing materials, writing construction specifications, applying construction standards, and/or conducting inspections, relative to the highway or other civil engineering projects. Equivalent combinations of experience or coursework in the areas listed may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED: Experience in pavement design, construction and/or roadway design experience. Experience in interpreting highway construction plans. Experience with department software such as Clarity, POP, KRONOS, and OnBase.

OTHER: Must have a valid driver's license. Occasional overnight travel is required. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation and OnBase.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe products including Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic file management.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to get along with everybody.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people of different disciplines and backgrounds.
• Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule.
