The Facility Design Specialist is responsible for the execution of fitness facility design through efficient and functional use of space with an excellent understanding of aesthetics and brand standards. S/he will work with sales teams to understand customer needs and create accurate and safe equipment layouts while applying current trends to provide top of the line fitness solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Work in partnership with team members to identify obstacles, provide solutions, and recommend new ideas to improve department efficiencies.
  • Adhere to defined schedules through communication with team, effective prioritization of tasks, and by applying best practices and techniques.
  • Present broad understanding of current ADA and ASTM standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrate excellent understanding of fitness planning principles and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to collect information on projects requirements and make recommendations about product offering and layout strategies.
  • Create large scale and complex gym layouts by applying defined standards, own expertise, and feedback received from the sales team.
  • Seek information about industry trends and leading technology to keep Life Fitness the leader in layout services.
  • Partner with brand partners to gain comprehensive understanding of current drawing standards and make necessary modifications as new information is available.
  • Assist with library organization and maintenance.
  • Assist with updates to training documents used by Facility Layout and Sales team.
  • Assist with training of Sales team.
  • Perform other related duties, as needed.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related discipline
  • 3-5 years' relevant interior design or space planning experience
  • AutoCAD, Visio, and CET Designer proficiency required
  • Some knowledge in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • In-depth knowledge of fitness function and special design
  • Intermediate computer support capabilities
  • Intermediate knowledge using Microsoft Office applications, file management, and general Windows software.
