Cardiographics -Peripheral Vascular Lab Department currently seeks a Diagnostic Cardiac Echo Sonographer.

In this role, the Echo Sonographer will perform advanced, non-invasive cardiac ultrasound procedures on patients in a variety of age-specific populations, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Position Responsibilities:

Demonstrates competency in adult, pediatric and neonate cardiac ultrasound by independently performing high quality, diagnostic ultrasound studies, including routine transthoracic studies, dobutamine and stress echocardiograms and advanced studies utilizing defined department protocols. These exams are also performed according to the ASE, ACC and ICAEL guidelines and standards.

  • Obtains the patient's medical history to gather data pertinent to the pending exam.
  • Verifies the appropriateness of the procedure, contacting the referring physician, if necessary, for clarification.
  • Performs procedures within standard time frame, noting that the complexity of the procedure or the acuity of the patient may alter the test duration.
  • Determines the necessity for echo contrast for suboptimal exams and injects Definity and / or Optison according to department protocols.

Position Requirements

Required:
  • Associates Degree
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
  • Specific Degree(s):Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program
  • New Graduates obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

Licensure/Certifications:
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
Other:
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI as an RCS)
