The Distribution/Inventory Control Manager is accountable for the management and development of world class material flow through the factory. Specific focus will be placed on ensuring materials distribution methods are executed to support customer delivery requirements, maximize efficient processes for material inflow and outflow and meet Nordson standards for inventory controls. This role will create and manage a physical distribution network capable of achieving proper inventory levels to support inventory and production objectives.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction and supervision of the Distribution function to accomplish ideal material flow through the factory, starting with receiving practices all the way through outgoing shipments.
  • Organize and execute material storage processes to optimize Nordson's inventory accuracy and on time delivery.
  • Manage all distribution functions and interfaces including stocking, picking, packing, shipping and receiving, as well as, receiving inspection.
  • Responsible for implementing practices to achieve acceptable inventory accuracy percentages.
  • Coordinate the movement of material between manufacturing plants. Assure materials, parts and assemblies are stored in an efficient manner and shipments are prepared in accordance with company specifications.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all rules and regulations governing the movement of freight domestically and internationally (C-TPAT). Ensure corporate compliance with transportation and receipt of hazardous material.
  • Manages the cycle counting program and reports performance. Identifies and resolves problems creating discrepancies.
  • Responsible for the development/implementation of Inventory Control procedures. Guides and/or trains personnel regarding the same.
  • Develops solutions to issues which might negatively impact inventory control metrics and operational performance; explores and communicates possible courses of action.
  • Assists in management of shrinkage accounts.
  • Lead and participate in the integration of new technologies (i.e. automated material handling devices; bar coding; inventory transaction automation. . .) and Continuous Improvement events.


Education & Experience Requirement:

Education:

Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Distribution and/or Manufacturing functions
  • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role in Distribution, Supply Chain Management or Operations
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing techniques and tools
  • Demonstrated experience in warehouse management, inventory control and logistics
  • SAP knowledge - Inventory Management; Warehouse Management; Production Planning


Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level
  • Requires understanding of logistics and warehousing methods, Plan for every part (PFEP) logic and Inventory metrics including, but not limited to, DSI, Turns and Excess/Obsolete.
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules
  • Problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Proficiency with SAP, Data or Business Warehouse applications & MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge/understanding of GAAP, Inventory Control and Cycle Counting procedures, Manufacturing Operations and Cost Accounting.
  • Experience in leading and participating in LEAN/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • APICS certification a plus
