This position provides analytical and consultative support to departmental and service line management and key stakeholders through the evaluation and understanding of how departmental financial information is integrated into the day-to-day operations of the organization and its service lines. This position requires a complete knowledge of the organization's information structure; assists in the planning, budgeting, financial reporting and financial support of all clinical and operational departments and service lines; and is responsible for the interpretation of data/information request from users, identifying the correct source of information and providing meaningful analyses. This position develops an in depth working relationship with key departmental operational managers. This position will be expected to meet reporting deadlines, and respond to information requests from all service line areas on a timely basis. The incumbent will be expected to obtain a clear understanding of the cost-accounting system, and be able to extract data from various financial systems such as EPIC, general ledger, and business repository, using database tools such as SQL and Tableau. Familiarity with EPIC is strongly desired.

Prepare, analyze, maintain and interpret statistical operational performance and financial data, identifying trends and deriving conclusions. Develops financial analysis to create individual business plans.

Collaborates with clinical, operational and financial management at all levels of the organization in the analysis of financial performance and utilization patterns of clinical specialties/service lines.

Provides key financial and clinical data highlighting business and operational issues requiring management attention and resources.

Assists in the development of standardized data collection, the use of benchmark data and reports across system hospitals. Assists in the development of financial databases.

Translates complex financial and operational data into understandable format. Able to teach/explain cost-accounting assumptions to non-finance staff.

Maintains a strong understanding of the Service Line and its clinical components including but not limited to the service line financial and clinical classifications.

Maintains awareness of regulatory changes, reimbursement patterns and trends and other potential impacts to the organization.

Minimum Education:

Required: Bachelors Degree

Preferred: Masters Degree

Specify Degree(s): Track 1: Business, Finance, or Accounting Track 2: Clinical Sciences,

Minimum Experience:

Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience

Preferred: 5-7 years of previous job-related experience

Details: The minimum experience required can be one of two tracks.

1. 5 - 7 years of financial and operational analysis experience, with 3 - 5 years of specific financial and operational analysis in a hospital or comparable healthcare organization setting. A preference for both physician group and hospital experience is highly desired but not required. - or -

2. 5 - 7 years experience in a clinical role in a hospital or comparable healthcare organization setting with 3 -5 years of experience in a purely management role, or senior analytical or Administrative role in a hospital or comparable healthcare organization with specific accountability for financial and/or operational management. A preference for both physician group and hospital experience is highly desired but not required.
