Reports to: Dean of the Seminary

Position Summary: North Park Theological Seminary invites applications and nominations for the Dean of Faculty to start summer 2023. This is a full-time administrative position with some teaching. Rank dependent upon qualifications; salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as chief academic officer for the Seminary, including curriculum review and development, assessment of student learning, academic success and disciplinary processes, and accreditation processes, in collaboration with the Director of Academic Programming.
  • Lead faculty, including chairing and setting the agenda for faculty meetings, conversations, retreats, and the Academic Cabinet; overseeing faculty loads and evaluation.
  • Work closely with the Dean of the Seminary to cultivate a healthy working environment and the well-being of faculty and staff.
  • Implement current and new co- and extra-curricular academic initiatives, in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Teach 1-2 courses each academic year within field of disciplinary specialty
  • Represent NPTS to various external (Association of Chicago Theological Schools, Association of Theological Schools, etc.) and internal (e.g., Seminary Committee of the NPU Board of Trustees) bodies.
  • Engage in scholarly research and writing as time allows.

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD or ThD (preferred) or related doctorate
  • Ordination preferred
  • Full-time faculty experience in theological education
  • Administrative experience in higher education
  • Commitment to support scholarly research and writing
  • Commitment to form students for a broad range of ministries
  • Compatibility with the affirmations and mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church and commitment to North Park Theological Seminary's core values of Christian, city-centered, and intercultural
