Position Overview

The Data Scientist, Operations Engineering primarily provides operational intelligence to a large fleet of renewable energy projects by applying advanced statistical and modeling techniques to explore large data sets, designing artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, and collaborating with technical subject matter experts to implement predictive analytics.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop novel predictive analytics to detect anomalies and underperformance trends using time series sensor data

  • Work with the data engineering team to design & deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning applications to production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reach data-driven decisions to improve operations
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer targeted questions or explore relationships between structured and unstructured datasets
  • Maintain in-house analytics and code repositories for an evolving and expanding renewable operating portfolio

Required Skills

  • Advanced degree in Data Science or related discipline, or 2+ years of work experience in Data Science position
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience finding insight from structured and unstructured data sets

  • Experience with machine learning and AI
  • Experience deploying large scale models to production
  • Strong communication and visualization skills

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Familiarity with cloud-based AI/ML computing platforms
  • Experience working with time series data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with BI visualization tools, such as Power BI and Tableau
  • Familiarity with R
