Opportunity

TheData Engineer - Visualization helps transform data into insights that drivebusiness value. The engineer will work with business users to gatherrequirements for business analysis needs as well as business insight reportsand dashboards. The engineer will gather a data from a wide variety of sources(data warehouse, databases, api's, flatfiles etc) to deliver analysis reports,analytic driven insights and use data visualization tools to develop impactfuland interactive visualizations consumable by business users. This will includetabular and dashboard solutions such as powerBI reports as well as geo-spatial solutionssuch as ArcGIS. The engineer will also be responsible for building, maintainingand enhancing SQL queries, PowerBI pipelines and stored procedures that bringdata from the data warehouse to the insight reports and dashboards. The engineerwill work with data architects, engineers, data scientists and product managersto understand business requirements/user stories, break them down into tasksand deliver the solutions in an iterative fashion. This position providesopportunities for domestic and international travel.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  1. Analyze business processes, business decisions and userrequirements to develop data frameworks or decision trees and metric/KPI's tosupport decision making
  2. Work with business users to develop reporting/dashboardprototypes and utilize a strong understanding of data visualization to buildthe best narratives and representation of data
  3. Develop and maintain reports, report schedules, dashboards,publishing, and user administration
  4. Partner with Engineering, Architecture and Data Science toprovide input on common data models, data descriptions as well as in researchingdata issues associated with reports and databases
  5.  Demonstrate Business Intelligence environments and deliverend user trainings ( in person/screenshare) to business users, partners anddata consumers
  6. Adhere to technical and business standards and processes todeliver timely and accurate information/dashboards for business decision making
  7. Work with Data and Analytic sprint teams to groom userstories, estimate and prioritize work and deliver results in an incrementalfashion
  8. Document data definitions, key metrics and sample reports,ensuring alignment and consistency in reporting across the company

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years IT experience including visualization experience
  • Experience utilizing any/all of the following visualization tools:  ArcGIS, Power BI, Business Objects (WEBI, Data Services, Excel Analysis), SSRS
  • Experience optimizing and writing SQL queries/ stored procedures to retrieve data from SQL Data Warehouse.
  • Experience working with business users to gather requirements, analyze data and build visualizations/dashboards to aid decision making
  • Preferred: Experience with data in Azure or any cloud platform is a plus
  • Preferred: Experience working with Geo Spatial Analysis tools like ArcGIS
  • Preferred: Coding Experience in R/Python/Scala
  • Preferred: Knowledge/Experience applying statistics to business problems
  • The ability to read, write, and speak Mandarin or French is a strong plus.
