Webster Bank is seeking a talented data Engineer to assist with the analysis, design, and implementation of Data Solutions. As a data Engineer, you will be working closely with data owners, data architects, business architects, solution architects, and DBA's to capture business requirements and build data solutions. You will work to ensure the processes and pipelines built for the enterprise are following standards and guidelines.

To ensure success as a data Engineer, you should have in-depth knowledge of data processing and data modeling methods as well as excellent communication skills. Ultimately, the data Engineer should be able to design, develop and implement integration processes based on requirements and work to reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and improve enterprise information management.

Responsibilities:

  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Working with stakeholders including the Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
  • Analyze and translate business requirements into conceptual and fully detailed logical data models.
  • Contribute to ongoing updates to data modeling standards and guidelines.
  • Contribute to assessing the appropriate data platform(s) for solutioning efforts.
  • Evaluate implemented application data pipelines for variances from standards.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
Experience:
  • 7 + years in Data integration tools like Informatica, Talend, Datastage, SSIS
  • 7+ years with Oracle, SQL, AWS RDS and/or Snowflake
  • 3+ years with Python or other scripting
  • 7+ years with ANSI SQL
  • Data Modeling tools
  • Analyze and translate business requirements into processes for transform and load data into various environments
  • Provide data solutions including the choice of tools, platforms and DBs to LoBs, IT teams
  • Contribute to ongoing updates to data modeling standards and guidelines.
  • Work with business architects, data architect, data stewards to capture business requirements.
  • Contribute to assessing the appropriate data platform(s) for solutioning efforts.
  • Evaluate implemented application data pipelines for variances from standards.
  • Must have a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with Data processing, Engineering or Architecture
  • Bachelor in Computer Science Engineering with at least 9 years of work experience in IT and Data
  • Experience in data engineering (architecture and development)
  • Preferred to have experience with the following:
Knowledge of:
  • Datawarehouse, ETL, batch processing tools and concepts
  • Experience in Python and/or Java
  • Snowflake or similar cloud computing--based data warehousing
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and SQL scripting
  • Experience with scheduling tools like Tidal or similar
  • AWS services and concepts
  • Background in the banking industry is preferred but not mandatory
  • Agile development (SAFe)
  • A team player. Collaborative and communicative. Proactive and able to adapt to change.
  • Metadata management and related tools.
  • Relational and document database technologies.
  • Data Warehouse and Data Lake Concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication and presentation skill
