Job Summary:

The Cost Accounting Analyst, Supply Chain will perform accounting and financial analysis for over $1B in Supply Chain costs across a complex operational environment (i.e. expanding fulfillment center network, multimodal 3PL transportation, and increasingly diversified supplier base) and with a company engaged in exciting, transformative work as it delivers the most trustworthy source of power to the world. This position requires professional experience, competency in cost accounting principles, and the ability to collaboratively support Supply Chain, Commercial FP&A, and Corporate Accounting professionals. Reports to the Supply Chain Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the monthly financial close by preparing recurring journal entries related to Supply Chain cost allocations, assessing the need for accounting adjustments to inventory values or 3PL transportation accruals, and properly reflecting operating expenses in the correct accounting period.
  • Record inventory reserves in accordance with company policy and following generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements in the monthly close process seeking efficiencies that will result in a best-in-class time to close of 3 working days.
  • Prepare relevant balance sheet reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy in asset valuation and adequacy of vendor accruals and appropriate reserves.
  • Assist in the coordination of physical inventory counts across all regional distribution centers and fulfillment centers and perform reconciliations of inventory accounts.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over inventory in all 3PL warehouses and consistently look for ways to improve the control environment.
  • Participate in the annual standard cost setting process and execution of the roll of new standards in the SAP system.
  • Support the development and ongoing administration of standard costs through assistance in gathering relevant financial data and ensuring compliance with Interstate's master data governance processes.
  • Support Supply Chain and Commercial FP&A teams in their preparation of financial analysis of standard cost purchase price variances and transportation and overhead cost variances to plan and prior periods.
  • Provide other related analyses or participate in special projects, as needed.
  • Support Interstate's annual financial statement audit by preparing requested audit schedules and providing necessary accounting support for Supply Chain related items.

Qualifications:
  • One to three years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing or wholesale distribution
  • Candidate seeking professional certifications such as a CPA or CMA preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures, including standard costing.
  • Experience working with SAP is highly desired
  • Experience working with a large and diversified organizational structure and chart of accounts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interface effectively with various levels within the organization
  • Strong Excel skills and proficient in other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting
