OVERVIEW

Think:Kids is a program in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Think:Kids teaches Collaborative Problem Solving® (CPS), a revolutionary, evidence-based approach for treating children who struggle with social, emotional and behavioral challenges. At Think:Kids, a team of clinicians, educators, and clinical researchers teach the CPS approach to clinicians, parents, and educators across the world to implement CPS in homes, outpatient clinics, correctional facilities, schools, inpatient settings, residential programs and beyond. Through this work, Think:Kids impacts the lives of over 100,000 new kids and families each year.

Reporting directly to the Director of Training Services, the CPS Trainer & Consultant will provide coaching, consultation and training in the CPS approach to various organizations, schools, agencies and Systems of Care who work with at risk youth. The coaching and consultations will take place primarily via videoconference and the trainings can be onsite or via videoconference. The intention of these sessions is to help attendees learn the CPS model and how to best utilize it to help the youth in their care to succeed.

This is a Per Diem position.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Training & Coaching

  • Lead virtual and/or live CPS Tier 1 and Tier 2 trainings at least twice per year. These trainings are open to the public and serve multi-disciplinary professionals who work with and treat youth with mental and behavioral health challenges.
  • Lead virtual CPS Parent Classes at least twice per year. These are multi-session classes offered to parents around the world.
  • Serve as a substitute for virtual CPS Coaching sessions as needed. These coaching sessions are conducted for small teams of staff at organizations around the world.
Administrative
  • Submit weekly timesheets on time and according to program guidelines
  • Submit travel expense reports in a timely fashion and abide by all hospital travel expense policies
  • Facilitate the completion of training evaluations and online readiness surveys at the end of trainings as required
  • Follow all training and coaching tracking procedures and respond to e-mail in a timely manner
Other
  • Optional but recommended: Attend Trainer Team and All Staff meetings (currently scheduled for Thursday's at 11am EST)
  • Assist with certification program activities as needed. This may include but is not limited to application reviews and preparation and/or leading of professional development webinars for the CPS certified community
  • Maintain CPS Certified Trainer status through proper completion of all recertification requirements, with the exception of the annual fee which is covered under your employment
  • Other CPS teaching-related duties as needed


Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the CPS approach

Demonstrated expertise in training others in the CPS approach

Excellent presentation and public speaking / training skills

Ability to address a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of exposure to the CPS approach and varying cultural background

Excellent interpersonal/communications skills

Strong organizational skills

Comfort with videoconference and online survey technology

LICENSURE & EDUCATION

Collaborative Problem Solving® - Certified Trainer, required

Undergraduate degree, required
