The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB) in the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB; http://mcb.illinois.edu/ ), at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in the field of Stem Cell Biology and Regeneration.

The Department of CDB/ School of MCB seeks candidates with evidence or promise of an innovative and independent research program to study stem cell biology at the molecular, cellular, or organismal level. Topics may include but are not limited to Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of stem cell potency and differentiation, RNA-mediated regulation of stem cell potency and differentiation, Organoid models of human development and organogenesis, Organoid models of human diseases, Regeneration and regenerative medicine. CDB/MCB is especially interested in candidates applying a combination of cutting-edge approaches to stem cells and/or organoid models to gain fundamental and mechanistic insights into stem cell biology, human development, or diseases. The approaches include but are not limited to the use of functional genomics, single-cell multi-omics, bioinformatics, bioengineering, proteomics, metabolomics and super-resolution imaging.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D or equivalent in the field of cell or developmental biology or a closely related field and have a track record of research creativity and productivity or potential for future independent research. The target starting date is August 16, 2023. Salary is commensurate with experience. Successful candidates will be in the Department of CDB within the School of MCB. The candidate will be expected to conduct independent research, participate in our undergraduate and Ph.D. programs, and teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The position offers excellent laboratory facilities, relocation and start-up funds, and opportunities to work with committed graduate students.

Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, the Cancer Center at Illinois, and the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center. Investigators have access to cutting-edge research facilities including flow cytometry and sorting, next generation sequencing and single-cell genomics, multi-model biomedical imaging (super-resolution microscopy, cryoEM, in vitro and in vivo imaging), biological engineering, high-throughput computing, transgenic mice, proteomics, and metabolomics.
