Overview:

The Cloud Solutions Engineer for Designer Cloud is a pre-sales technical role responsible for supporting the sale of Alteryx's cloud platform and services. The main function of this role is to combine deep cloud based technical knowledge and SaaS subscription sales skills in order to describe how Alteryx's Cloud SaaS platform can solve customer data analytics and data engineering use cases for our customers. The Senior Sales Engineer will work closely with their assigned Sales Account Executive(s) to achieve quarterly net-new sales booking targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate in a role where a minimum of 5+ years in a technical pre-sales or sales engineering role supporting strategic enterprise cloud solutions, or similar role that carries a sales quota and is customer-facing is required
  • Experience with responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Ability to work as part of sales team to formulate and execute enterprise account strategies
  • Participate in functional and technical discovery sessions
  • Provide informational presentations and live software demonstrations
  • Data savvy and proficient at communicating data manipulation concepts
  • Experience with building strong relationships throughout the sales cycle with the business end user and our customer's technical staff
  • Ability to articulate product positioning and competitive differentiation to both business and technical users
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Interact with current customers and prospects to define market requirements and new feature requests, ensure these are captured and communicated to the product team.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain client relationships to identify prospective customers and technology partners who may benefit from Alteryx's cloud platform
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing customers to gather information on ways to advance or improve Alteryx's cloud platform functionality
  • Build and maintain relationships cross-functionally across Alteryx teams, such as customer success, product management, marketing, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to improve brand and marketing recognition within the sales territory - potential conferences, speaking engagements, sponsorship opportunities, potential partners, etc.
  • Remain up to date on the latest platform functionality and supporting services
  • Remain up to date on the latest competition
  • Provide supplemental insight and feedback into sales forecasting (beyond what is provided by the Sales Account Executive)
  • Provide technical assistance and general advice/guidance to less specialized members of the Solutions Engineering team across Alteryx
  • Participate in internal initiatives and projects not directly related to sales, with the goal of improving organizational function
  • Obtain industry and vendor certifications as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5+ years in a technical pre-sales or sales engineering role supporting strategic enterprise cloud solutions
  • Complex enterprise systems and problem-solving skills
  • Deep Experience with one or more cloud platforms and architectures: Google Cloud (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with one or more enterprise level security deployments: Single Sign-on (SSO), Active Directory (AD), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Kerberos (or equivalent)
  • Data industry experience in: Analytic applications, Application integration, Extract Transform Load (ETL), Extract Load Transform (ELT), Business Intelligence, DataViz, Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Cloud Datawarehouse/Datalake technologies (BigQuery/Snowflake/Redshift/Databricks)
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Unix/Linux OS and Filesystems
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of SQL
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable and quick with learning new technologies as needed

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience in selling Enterprise subscription based cloud software
  • Experience supporting workflows using Airflow or other enterprise workflow tools
  • Some programming experience in Python/Java/R
