To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Buyer in our Purchasing Department. The primary responsibility of the position is sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies, components, and equipment. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and be able to be able to handle operational issues effectively. This position will report to the Purchasing Supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Purchase materials and components to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and other department requirements
  • Source materials from safe and reputable suppliers
  • Executes purchase orders and purchase requests timely and accurately
  • Requests price and availability quotes from suppliers to determine best pricing and availability of materials and components
  • Follow-up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery within stated lead times
  • Expedites and tracks all open purchase orders as needed to support inventory and operational requirements
  • Prepares and maintains detailed reports, records, and files
  • Build relationships with internal departments and outside suppliers while assisting with purchase requests and discrepancies
  • Reviews material receiving deficiencies and arrange for returns, replacements, or credit
  • Afterhours Aircraft on Ground (AOG) call duty rotation

Job Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy, confidentiality, and promptness
  • Driven, results-oriented, problem solving, multi-tasking
  • Ability to handle operational issues effectively, understanding escalation and crisis management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of prior purchasing and sourcing experience
  • Knowledge of Merlin Procurement System or an inventory control / procurement system

Work Environment:
  • Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment
  • Some travel may be required

Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
