We are seeking a full time Business Development Specialist to join our team! This position is fully remote.

The Business Development Specialist (BDS) will be responsible for hunting and identification of new customers, business opportunities and support acquisition of new business from potential and existing customers through industry research, data mining, website research, prospecting, and client interactions. The BDS will support overall sales productivity, improvement efforts via supporting the implementation of best practices, supporting the improvement of existing processes, ensuring the integrity of various sales databases, and ensuring the accurate analysis and reporting of data to leadership. This is a remote position that can be anywhere in the United States. Target customers include biotech, pharma and large academic institutions involved in drug development and manufacturing of Biologics and Viral vector for Gene Therapies. The BDS will report directly to the VP of Business Development.

Essential functions:

  • Actively carry out data mining of professional databases, internal databases and web research to hunt, identify and qualify potential customers and partnerships
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and services of the Company and target customers that have potential for our services
  • Be driven and passionate about seeking out new customers through appropriate initiatives such as cold calls and other imaginative activities to perform the necessary groundwork when requested by the senior business development team members
  • Support the business development directors as requested in establishing contact with new customers through persistent, professional, and proactive contact via e-mail, phone, and other marketing efforts
  • Support the senior business development team to win multi-million-dollar strategic drug development partnerships
  • Own and manage the process for execution of CDA's, customer Request for Information (RFI) documents in collaboration with business development team and company SME's
  • Conducts and reports industry-related market research, to identify potential new customers and industry trends
  • Participate in industry trade shows and related promotional efforts
  • Facilitate meetings for Business Development Directors at trade shows and support them on customer site visits
  • Assist with design, planning and execution of marketing campaigns for Pharmaron services
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and implement better ways of working and areas for process improvements, where appropriate

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related sciences.
  • Minimum two years of experience in viral or protein research in the industry or academia with drug development and/or contract manufacturing/testing organization, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year in business/commercial development, or equivalent sales experience is desired.
  • Demonstrates at least a basic understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and service selling, with an ability and attitude to learn more advanced topics and concepts
  • Highly driven & commercially minded individual who demonstrates strong self-motivation and a cheerful outlook
  • Must get along with the rest of the team, be personable and have a type A personality
  • Very high interpersonal skills, capable of building positive long-lasting client relationships, with good presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires teamwork and the entrepreneurial mentality of "doing whatever it takes to get the job done."
  • Ability to stay calm and collected under pressure, and resilient in the face of challenges or setbacks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with a CRM such as Salesforce is a plus.
