Business Analyst II for Health Care Core Data Assets

Purpose of the role: Provide value to LexisNexis Risk Solutions' customers by documenting, standardizing, and improving core LNRS Health Care Data. This standardization is key to enabling consistent Health Care product integration with these core data assets.

The Business Analyst II position will deliver multiple complex assigned projects aimed at delivering IT solutions and services that meet company cost, quality, and strategic targets. A Business Analyst uses interpersonal collaboration and problem-solving skills to support shared healthcare data sets on behalf of Health Care products. This role is responsible for clearly communicating with internal customers to support existing and implement new data sources. This person must be able to independently coordinate and research moderate technical activities and act as a liaison with internal stakeholders (including product management, engineering, data acquisition, quality assurance, auditing, delivery, support, and others.) This role requires heavy communication directly with internal teams and contacts. The role will predominately focus on gathering and analyzing data, defining current processes and requirements, researching best practices, and identifying and documenting process improvements and both functional and non-functional specifications.

Knowledge of LexisNexis Risk Solutions Health Care products preferred.

Knowledge of Healthcare Industry preferred.

Experience and Education

  • 2+ years' experience in business analysts with analytical and communication competencies demonstrated.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering/Computer Science preferred); or equivalent experience required.
  • Previous experience of working in an agile environment and using recognized development methodology; e.g., Agile, Scrum, and Kanban

Specific Responsibilities

Develops and documents standards, informs metric-driven processes, and assists interoperability requirements for LNRS HC data products with our core data platforms. Responsibilities will cover the payer, provider, life sciences, and pharmacy market segments. Priorities include improving data quality and accuracy and enabling effortless integration into product workflows.

  • Understand and represent customer business problems.
  • Create and own requirement generation.
  • Modify existing requirements for the core header data set to provide more accurate data.
  • Engage with product stakeholders to recommend integration practices; work with product teams to standardize integrations into Healthcare data.
  • Engage with cross functional LNRS shared services teams to align with LNRS HC product team requirements where applicable.
  • Support the Provider Data Quality Program.
  • Support LNRS Health Care business through data analysis and research.
  • Investigate, track, and report data issues.
    • Demonstrate a level of understanding within data content.
    • Provide technical problem solving to less technical teams (customer service, account management, etc.).
    • Resolve and/or guide data sources in resolving basic data issues within functional areas or data attribute types.
    • Produce basic ad-hoc data counts, statistics, and examples as required.
    • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Other Responsibilities
  • Develop complex systems specifications, process flow, and conversion strategies.
  • Maintain data model and best logic requirement documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools, processes, and solutions to meet desired product needs.
  • Follow established business processes, protocols, and quality standards in the development and deployment of complex solutions.
  • Maintain stakeholder expectations and raise appropriate issues to project managers as necessary.
  • Develop "trusted advisor" relationship with senior stakeholders through effective communication and efficient, quality execution on projects.
  • Identify and document process improvements and functional specifications based on research of best practices and analysis of data.
  • Perform analysis on existing systems; identifying options for potential solutions and assess for both technical and business suitability.
  • Work between remote development teams, internal IT, and business to ensure requirements are being met.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Desired Technical Abilities
  • A strong knowledge of conceptual data modeling, UML modeling, data flows, data analysis, and data processing.
  • Proven track record of gathering business requirements and translating them into user stories/functional specifications, gained on projects of considerable scale and/or complexity.
  • Broad understanding of software development methodologies.
  • Strong facilitation skills; ability to facilitate workshops with all staff levels.
  • Strong communication skills that allow for effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Written communication skills including process documentation.
  • IT research, software analysis, and design skills.
  • Ability to guide and mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Proficient in documenting As-Is and To-Be processes.
  • Broad technical understanding across various methodologies, platforms, tools, and languages.
  • Previous experience of working in an agile environment and using recognized development methodology; e.g., Agile, SCRUM, and KANBAN.
  • Excellent organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and excellent delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
  • Advanced problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.
