What you will be doing:

The multi-functional members of the Global Marketing team are responsible for orchestrating the brand strategy and product innovation that fuel growth for the Helen of Troy Beauty and Wellness division on a global basis. It is an impartial organization that provides a disciplined, global approach to the consideration of all new product and technology possibilities to drive the New Product Development Process for the division.

The Brand Manager - Global Braun Thermometers will report to the Marketing Director, Global Braun, and will manage consumer-centric innovation and new product development globally for the Braun brand within the thermometer category, as well as new category adjacencies. They will plan, prioritize, direct, and provide leadership cross-functionally to achieve long-range business development objectives.

  • Global Strategy Development : Using inputs from the Regional Marketing team, the Manager will develop long-range Global Strategies for the thermometer business, including new product planning, a pace of innovation, brand hierarchies, recommendations for distribution expansion, and sharing of key success drivers (Commercial Initiatives). They will maintain and manage a rolling 3- year Roadmap of qualified new products for the category. An ability to think broadly and consider the "big picture" and understand details and management of projects is essential to this responsibility. The ability to connect problems worth solving and consumer insights into focused product and marketing strategies is also vital.
  • New Products: Serve as the "Champion" for upstream development through the Beauty and Wellness NPD process. New product development will include developing product positioning, branding, required features, design direction, packaging (structure, layout, claims, and communication points), pricing, etc.; built from a foundation of strong understanding of consumer behaviors and needs. Partner closely in conjunction with Regional Marketing teams, Program Management, Industrial Design, Engineering, and Creative. Strong, hands-on development and market research experience are important to this position.
  • Portfolio Management : Responsible for understanding the roles new products will play within the existing product portfolio, assuring each SKU is profitable, has a "reason for being" and is accurately positioned relative to current assortment and competition in the marketplace across relevant regions.
  • Marketing Communications: responsible for the strategy, creative design, and development of coordinated marketing communication programs that deliver on global Braun goals. Ensure all brand-building activations across regions support brand goals, objectives, mission, positioning, and consumer target. Facilitate collaboration across regions to identify areas of efficiency and share findings. Ability to identify commonalities and lead outside and inside agency partners.
  • Category Reviews & Communication : responsible for periodic category reviews with the regions to (a) stay ahead of the threats & opportunities regionally to inform global strategy and New Product Roadmap, and (b) communicate to the broader distributed team about GCO initiatives and activities as well as the status of global new product programs.


Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and develop creative solutions
  • Solid understanding of costing/pricing financial analysis and P & L management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing market research projects and distilling consumer insights into action plans.
  • Think strategically at a global level, and to develop creative marketing solutions
  • Strong independent champion of ideas and highly creative marketer of consumer insights
  • Able to manage cross-functionally and across a global organization
  • Experience and skill in presenting ideas, strategy and plans to executive level teams
  • Demonstrate accountability of assigned responsibility (ownership)
  • Strong project and time management skills, able to manage and direct multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable making and standing behind decisions
  • External agency management oversight experience
  • Competitive analysis/trends analysis


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • MBA in marketing and management or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of marketing experience in the consumer durables/products arena
  • History of consumer-centric new product and packaging development experience
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel both domestically and globally (15%)
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
