Job Description

Be part of the electric revolution. In our quest to zero, zero, zero here at GM we are looking for someone to join our high performing battery cell manufacturing engineering team as a software engineer. In this role you will be working in a fast pace high tech environment, responsible for helping to accomplish our battery cell production goals at our Ultium plants and defining our future battery cell processes.

Responsibilities

  • Technical expert for the development of software for formation and testing of battery cells including development and implementation of new equipment and test protocols
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and partners
  • Work with equipment suppliers on design, build and debug of formation and test equipment
  • Support team members with requirements for formation and test processes
  • Support implementation of GM safety specifications and equipment safety reviews
  • Develop test software strategies for implementation of next generation battery cell technology
  • Interface with leadership and support development of battery cell manufacturing strategies

Additional Job Description

Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or related degrees
  • 5+ years experience in the development of software applications used in plants and labs
  • Expert Proficiency in LabVIEW and Python
  • Deep knowledge of software development processes
  • Experience with automotive manufacturing environments
  • Extensive experience with battery testing
  • Experience with installation, debug and startup of testing and manufacturing equipment
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership

Preferred Experience:
  • Working in an Agile environment
  • LabVIEW Architect or Developer Certifications
  • Experienced programmer in Test Stand, ladder logic, C based and other languages
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing approaches and tools
  • Experience with Battery Cell Formation process

Location:
  • Warren MI
  • Approximately 20% travel to plants and suppliers in Michigan, Tennessee, and Ohio
