How You'll Make an Impact
The Associate Scientist I is responsible for completing sample preparation service activities including but not limited to normalized and volumetric aliquots, DNA/RNA purification, DNA/RNA quantifications, PBMC processing, whole blood fractionation, and other client specific procedures. The incumbent is responsible for completing maintenance, generating reports, and reviewing results, and is accountable for performing and documenting all activities as prescribed in the corresponding SOPs. The Associate Lab Scientist is also responsible for providing training to other technicians and ensuring compliance with company Quality policies.

What You'll Do

  • Perform all functions methodically and in accordance with SOPs.
  • Independently operate laboratory equipment including but not limited to pipettes, automated liquid handlers, spectrophotometers, and centrifuges.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and calibration, and keep records updated.
  • Process and store biological samples per established protocols.
  • Properly and accurately document processes. Document processing deviations per SOP.
  • Manifesting and registering samples received for lab processing.
  • Edit/Author SOPs, forms, and study documents.
  • Generate custom sample reports to review lab results and report non-conformities to the Sample Preparation Services Manager.
  • Lead investigations of non-conformance and develop appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist with continuous improvements in the laboratory.
  • Purchase consumables and reagents and maintain inventory documentation.
  • Be an effective trainer for lab processes and document training activities appropriately
  • Assist with process development for new lab services, including SOP drafts and pilot study documentation.
  • Working in an area with potentially infectious materials.
  • Be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and enforce and follow Universal
  • Take precautions for bloodborne pathogens when working in an area considered to be potentially contaminated.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Reaching/lifting/bending
  • Extended periods of standing or sitting while wearing lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves

What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ year relevant experience OR
  • Associates degree with 5+ year relevant experience OR
  • HSD with 9+ years relevant experience
  • Experience in a regulated laboratory environment preferred
  • Must be able to work as a team as well as independently
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of GXP requirements
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers, automated nucleic acid extraction platforms, nucleic acid QC, aseptic technique and/or cell culture preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management and teams.
