Main Duties & Responsibilities
As Associate Director in Early-Stage Formulation Sciences, the candidate will be in a leadership role within the organization reporting to the group head.
The candidate should be an expert at driving molecule selection for early CMC development, strategies for formulation and drug product development for Phase 1 through Phase 3 clinical studies.
In this position, candidate is also responsible for AstraZeneca's R&D solid dosage form capabilities through the full development lifecycle, from research to commercial phases. For all aspects of the role, extensive knowledge of development of mAbs, bispecific mAbs, Fabs, Fc fusion proteins, ADCs, and vaccines is expected in this role.
In addition, the candidate would have a working knowledge of protein biophysics and biochemistry, surface science, and primary container technologies for biologics.
Ideally, the candidate would have experience working with device engineering and familiarity with device development requirements and expectations. AstraZeneca is a vibrant and scientifically driven company, and the candidate is expected to apply scientific knowledge to issues and problems arising during product development.
In addition, the candidate is expected to be active in external biologics formulation community through, for example, publishing regularly in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at major conferences, etc., and to support and maintain a strong scientific culture that exists within the current formulation development organization.
As the leader in early-stage formulation sciences, candidate will be experienced with regulatory agency interactions in the drug product arena and with composition and review of regulatory documents for submission.
Education & Experience Requirements
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree. An advanced degree is preferred master's or PhD.
Also experience in chemistry, biopharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, biochemical engineering within the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology Industries
Bachelor's Degree - 10 plus years of experience
Master's degree - 6 plus years of experience
PhD Degree - 3 plus years of experience
