Position Overview
The Asphalt Paving Laborer is responsible for safely performing a variety of construction duties to assist the highway, utility, grade crews or at various on-site plant locations. This position involves various manual tasks.
Wage Range: $22 - $28 per hour, based on experience
Key Responsibilities (Esential Duties and Functions)
- Hauls and moves materials around job site.
- Strips forms and stacks materials.
- Shovels and rakes asphalt, concrete, and dirt.
- Knows, understands, and follows the rules and regulations of the Company "Employee Safety Policy and Handbook."
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.
- Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.
- Valid and active CDL Class B License
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- The ability to operate, with knowledge, awareness and understanding of the working elements of heavy construction, earth moving, paving and general construction equipment.
- Knowledge of asphalt paving operations.
- Previous experience in asphalt paving related field.
- Regular and punctual attendance required.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and operating various hand and power tools, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and bending over for extended periods of time.
- Requires reaching, crawling, climbing, grasping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting.
- Often requires lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling items weighing up to 100 lbs. Sometimes requires working at heights.
- Requires correct vision and hearing within normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions.
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site.
- Contractual obligations may require irregular hours, out-of-town work, overnight, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This is a seasonal job with job-attached unemployment benefits.
