About This Job

The Application Support Engineer is a technical resource whose primary role is to prepare, implement, administrate, and troubleshoot complex Core Banking Solutions. Additional key roles include configuring software, automating implementation activities to minimize manual intervention, monitoring, and validating the application in production and non-production environments. Responsibilities also include coordinating with development teams and vendors as necessary to report defects and validate fixes. This position will perform a mix of operational and project-based work and be hands-on with cutting edge technologies.

Essential Functions

  • Develop automation utilizing scripting tools (i.e. Puppet) to automate the delivery of the application into the environment or maintain the state of the environment as specified by the application
  • Work with minimal supervision and supports multiple Core Banking environments in a fast-paced environment
  • Support application installation, configuration, and progression through multiple environments including single sign on functionality, and configuration of database and remote filesystem connectivity
  • Communicate clearly with boundary partners (other DevOps teams) to successfully deliver tasks, automations and/or support new features in the pipeline
  • Work in an environment to support the applications 24/7 including participation in an on-call support rotation
  • Maintain a pro-active approach to the monitoring of system health and functionality
  • Adhere to established change management processes and standards including creation and tracking of change records, development of required support documentation or other documentation that enhances support or understanding of the application
  • Partner with various departments to evaluate, select, implement, and support appropriate services, software, or hardware
  • Administer and resolve application/server alerts and issues, provides updates, and performs root cause analysis
  • Document system configurations, standards, and procedures; maintain and contribute to an existing knowledge base used by the internal tech team
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery and Incident Management plans where applicable, including periodic testing
  • Comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Linux operating systems , command line scripting, and file access configuration
  • Intermediate working knowledge of MS SQL development, scripting, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of coding and scripting with python, Bash and PowerShell
  • Intermediate understanding of Middleware and API connection calls
  • Proficient in MS SQL development/scripting
  • Ability to remediate vulnerabilities identified by security scans
  • Ability to research and troubleshoot independently
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and live environment debugging skills
  • Ability to train and assist the user community to troubleshoot issues
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Computer Science, other technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 2+ years application support experience required
  • Experience with GIT integration via TFS required
  • Microsoft Data Platform / Microsoft SQL Server database experience required
  • DevOps experience preferred
  • Temenos Transact (T24) and Enterprise Application Platform (or JBoss EAP) experience preferred
  • Experience with Close of Business processes and support preferred
  • Daily Scrum knowledge and skills preferred
