The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for oversight of the entire accounts payable function. This requires not only accounting acumen, but also working knowledge of a company's operations in order to be a steadfast guardian of its cash flow. You will have the opportunity to define and improve our payables processes to support the business demands of our fast-growing organization.

Finance holds several distinct responsibilities critical to the healthy functioning of the company. Accounting safeguards our company's assets and ensures our financial statements are in accordance with GAAP. FP&A acts as the analytical voice to the business and works with business leaders to develop long-term strategies and plans. Procurement stewards the selection of vendors and ensures proper vendor onboarding and payment. Treasury invests our cash that is not needed for operations, protecting our financial trajectory. In all of our efforts, we aim to provide a lens into the financial underpinnings of Everlaw so our company can make informed data-driven decisions as we continue to grow.

This is a full-time position based in our Oakland, California office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home Tu/Fr.

Getting Started

In this role, you'll
    • Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices, employee expenses and maintain accurate records and internal controls.
    • Partner with the Procurement team on establishing policies, resolving purchase orders, and receiving and/or invoice issues to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
    • Manage and coordinate day-to-day AP operations including oversight of work performed by outside resources.
    • Administer systems used for vendor bill payment, employee expense reports and credit cards including integration with NetSuite.
    • Maintain internal policies relating to the AP function, including the Company's credit card processes and employee expense policies.
    • Provide guidance and training across functional departments regarding account code classifications for all types of spend.
    • Respond to internal questions about how to use the tools and provide regular status updates to the finance/accounting team.
    • Review all AP related monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis.
    • Assist with audit support as needed.
    • Proactively make recommendations and lead execution of process simplification, cycle time reduction and other SLA improvements to achieve transaction costs reductions and plan for growth.
    • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
    • Participate and update job knowledge in educational opportunities within the finance/accounting team.
    • Accomplish accounting and organization missions by completing related results as needed such as ad-hoc reports to management.


About you
    • You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and understand how to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • You are resilientand willing to iterate on your approach when you encounter adversity. You thrive in an environment that gives and receives continuous learning feedback.
    • You're able to lead and influence, align with management on best practices, direct the work of others and provide timely and actionable feedback.
    • You are a curious and versatile problem solver, comfortable clarifying ambiguous situations to overcome obstacles and resolve issues in a variety of domains (i.e. technical, commercial, and operational).
    • You're empathetic to your colleagues and committed to delivering high-quality work over the long term.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • At least 7 years subject matter experience, including at least 2 managing a team.
    • Experience in a high growth environment and proven ability to scale the function.
    • Strong analytic and critical thinking abilities.
    • Firm grasp of overall procure to pay ecosystem, processes.
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Able to work across multiple teams and outside of an organization, while handling multiple concurrent tasks.
    • High degree of attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
    • Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills.
    • Advanced abilities with Excel.
